Issue: On macOS Big Sur, there are compatibility issues that prevent DNASTAR applications, including Protean 3D and SeqMan NGen, from functioning correctly.
Resolution: The issues affecting SeqMan NGen and most Lasergene applications were resolved with the release of 17.2.1 in mid-January 2021.
*We are now working on a future patch that will make Protean 3D compatible with macOS Big Sur.
- If you do not use Protean 3D, it is now safe to upgrade to your computer macOS Big Sur. However, if you do so, you should also update your Lasergene software to version 17.2.1 (or later, when available). To do this, log in to your DNASTAR account, go to the My Account page, and download the latest macOS installer.
- If you use Protean 3D, you are encouraged to update to Lasergene 17.2.1 as above. However, we recommend that you postpone upgrading to macOS Big Sur. We will be sending an email to affected customers once it is safe to upgrade.
